"TASTY FEST-2025": six competed for "Talented Chef" title

To celebrate the Year of Vocational Professions and International Chefs Day, the College of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University and the Methodological Centre of the Shymkent City Department of Education organised a large-scale festival called 'Tasty Fest-2025'.
As part of the festival, the “Talented Chef - 2025” competition was held, aiming to enhance professional skills. Six teams from catering management training institutions in the city took part in the contest.
During the official opening ceremony, Gani Besbayev, the Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work, welcomed everyone and emphasised the importance of vocational professions in modern society. He also highlighted the significance of the event for young chefs and wished all participants success.
The competition consisted of four stages that tested both professional knowledge and creativity:
- Team self-introduction
- Pastry art skills
- Revival of forgotten national Kazakh dishes
- 'Taste Vibe', where participants demonstrated their culinary mastery, stage performance, and creative expression.
The jury included head chefs from leading restaurants, well-known food bloggers and top food engineering specialists. They evaluated the participants' work objectively and shared valuable professional advice with the young chefs.
According to the results of the competition, the winners were:
Grand Prix: College of Food Industry and Service
1st place: College of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University
2nd place: N. Ondasynov School-Gymnasium № 38
3rd place: Specialised Boarding Lyceum № 1 for Gifted Children
