Research Institute of Natural and Technical Sciences IETP carries out planning of organizational, fundamental and applied scientific research, design and engineering, control of technological work, provision of measurement services and sales of scientific and technical products, in close connection with the educational process.

Laboratory activities

• Reconstruction of existing industrial plants

• Modernization of existing gas purification and heat and mass transfer equipment

• Creation of highly efficient and intensive technological equipment

• Calculation, design and manufacturing:

• installations, block modules, equipment for internal devices of gas purification and heat and mass transfer equipment, auxiliary equipment

• Technological and hardware development of processes

• Laboratory studies of hydrodynamics, heat and mass transfer and dust collection processes, optimization of processes and apparatus

Purpose of the study

• Development of technical proposals for optimization of material and energy costs and their feasibility study

• Expert assessment of newly created equipment, installations and production facilities at the design stage

• Providing services for measuring hydrodynamic characteristics, parameters of heat and mass transfer and dust collection at semi-industrial installations in an experimental research laboratory using a water-air system and using real media

• Numerical modeling of hydrodynamics, heat and mass transfer processes and dust collection in gas-liquid devices

• Hydrodynamic modeling of processes and apparatus

Expected results

• theoretical foundations for the creation of heat and mass transfer and dust collection equipment;

• experimental studies of hydrodynamic characteristics, parameters of heat and mass transfer and dust collection;

• development of recommendations for the design and operation of industrial equipment designs;

• carrying out industrial testing of samples of heat and mass transfer and dust collection equipment.

• The results of the research will be in demand at enterprises of the chemical industry (Aktobe Chromium Compounds Plant JSC, Kazphosphate LLP (NDFZ)) and oil refining (PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP).

From 2020 to 2022, work was carried out on the topic "Design development of a combined dust collector with autonomous irrigation circuits and technical documentation." As a result, a methodology was obtained for calculating the basic hydrodynamic characteristics, parameters of heat and mass transfer and dust collection, recommendations for the design and operation of industrial devices, and technical documentation was developed.

From 2023 to 2025, work was carried out on the topic "Design development of a combined cyclone-vortex dust collector and technical documentation". As a result, a methodology was obtained for calculating the basic hydrodynamic characteristics, parameters of heat and mass transfer and dust collection, recommendations for the design and operation of industrial devices, and technical documentation was developed.

The laboratory base for studying the processes and apparatus of the chemical and petrochemical industries is the laboratory named after. Academician Balabekov O.S. total area 600 m ² . This laboratory houses:

1. Laboratory model of a column apparatus for studying elementary acts of hydrodynamics and mass transfer: column with a diameter of 200 mm, height - 4000 mm, gas capacity - 5000 m ³ /h;

2. A pilot plant with a column apparatus to study the efficiency of mass transfer and dust collection. Column diameter - 500 mm, height - 8000 mm, gas capacity - 20000 m ³ /h;

3. Industrial testing facility with a column apparatus for testing the optimal operating modes of packing elements. Diameter - 1000mm height - 8000 mm, gas capacity - 50000 m ³ /h;

4. A flat model of a column apparatus for photographing, filming and video recording the interaction of gas and liquid in a layer, as well as a gas-liquid mixture in the volume of a regular packing. Dimensions 150x150x500mm, gas capacity - 2000 m ³ /h;

5. Aerotank for studying the process of wastewater disinfection on an industrial scale with a volume of 100 m ³ and laboratory mixing reactors;

6. Ball and vibration mills;

7. Pilot installation for studying the rectification process. Productivity - 3 l/h;

8. Industrial-style disk vacuum filter for suspension separation;

9. Semi-industrial experimental drum drying unit with a capacity of up to 500 kg/hour. db=0.53m. L=1.6m;

10. A flat model of a drying drum to study the process of material distribution by movable packing elements in the cross section of the drum;

11. High-speed centrifugal impact mills and separators for separating aerosol flows;

12. The manufacture of internal devices of column apparatuses, drying drums, mills and crushers can be carried out in mechanical workshops.
