Shokan: A Bright Star of the East

The Information and Educational Centre at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University held an educational seminar titled 'Shokan: A Bright Star of the East', dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the eminent Kazakh scholar, ethnographer, traveller and historian, Shokan Shyngysuly Ualikhanov.
The seminar highlighted the life and scholarly legacy of this remarkable scholar, emphasising his contributions to science, culture and the history of Kazakhstan.
Informative presentations were delivered by Kabyl Algabek, Senior Lecturer in the Department of History of Kazakhstan, on the topic of 'The Life and Work of Sh. Ualikhanov', and by Associate Professor and Candidate of Historical Sciences Sarsebai Karibaev, on the topic of 'The Intellectual Environment and Scholarly Heritage of Shokan Ualikhanov'.
Students also recited heartfelt poems dedicated to Shokan, adding a special warmth and sincerity to the event. Additionally, the Information and Educational Centre organised a book exhibition to showcase the scholar's works.
This educational seminar was a significant event, reminding participants of the richness of the past and its enduring value for the future.
