Today, the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University hosted the international scientific and practical conference called “Auezov Readings-23: The Abai Phenomenon and New Frontiers of Knowledge,” dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great philosopher Abai Kunanbaev. Scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad, Abai and Auezov scholars, representatives of the "Amanat" party, members of the Shymkent City Maslikhat, staff of the Abai Museum, and university students took part in the event, both online and in person.

"This event is dedicated to science, knowledge, history, and the identity of our nation. The 23rd Auezov Readings have attracted both national and international scholars and had over 300 academic papers presented. As people say, “Mukhtar glorified the name of Abai and it was Abai who made the name of Mukhtar eternal”. Mukhtar Auezov systematized the entire legacy of the great Abai and his philosophical ideas. For our university bearing the name of Mukhtar Auezov, this is a pride and responsibility," said Darkhan Ahmed-Zaki, Chairman of the Board and Rector of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University.

Among the participants were Professor Nailya Bagautdinova of the Kazan Federal University, Professor Saidasror Gulyamov of the Tashkent State Agrarian University and Fulbright Programme lecturer Ann Jagusah Ishanpepe from the United States.

Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Darya Kozhamzharova, shared her perspective and presented recent advances in research by young scholars on Abai's intellectual heritage.

Presentations were also given by Professor Serik Nurmuratov, Doctor of Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies, Janar Urkinbayeva, Director of the Abai Museum, and A. Isabek, a PhD student at the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi.
