Archaeologists and academics meet at University Round Table

As part of the Month of Science, a round table was held at the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University on the topic of "Exploring the Development of Archaeological and Anthropological Research in the Southern Region". The event was organised by the Scientific Centre for Archaeological and Anthropological Research.
In his opening speech, Darkhan Ahmed-Zaki, Rector of the university and Chairman of the Board, spoke about the valuable contributions of Kazakh historians to the study of the country's past. He also highlighted the important role played by the University's researchers and the Scientific Centre in advancing archaeological and anthropological studies. The Rector voiced his support for ongoing research efforts, and welcomed cooperation with local and international scholars.
Saipov, Head of the Scientific Centre for “Archaeological and Anthropological Research”, gave a report on “Exploring the Development of Archaeological and Anthropological Research in the Southern Region”. Akhan Ongar, General Director of the Alkey Margulan Institute of Archaeology, spoke about the present and future of archaeological science in Kazakhstan. He shared his thoughts on the development of of archaeology in Kazakhstan and expressed his willingness to cooperate in the future collaboration on scientific projects and the training of specialists.
Archaeologists from the Institute also shared their ideas, including A. Erzhegitova, Senior Researcher of the Turkestan Regional Museum of History and Local Studies; Sh. Torgautova, Head of the Scientific Centre for History and Oenology; Senior Researchers A. Avizova and A. Yergeshbayev from the Scientific Centre for "Archaeological and Anthropological Research"; and researcher N. Beysenov.
After an extensive discussion of key issues, a memorandum was signed between Auezov University and the A. Margulan Institute of Archaeology on the conduct of scientific research, training of specialists and joint work on critical issues.
