On 11 June 2025, during the 27th regular session of the Shymkent City Maslikhat, deputies reviewed and approved the proposal to award the title of 'Honorary Citizen of Shymkent' to 25 individuals who have made a significant contribution to the city's social, economic and public life. 

Among those honoured was Askar Smailovich Mamyrbaev, a senior lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Transport at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. 

He is a renowned architect, as well as the Honoured Architect of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Shymkent Architects’ Association. His contributions have played a key role in shaping the city’s architectural identity. As a dedicated educator, he continues to invest his knowledge and experience in developing national science and training future professionals. 

The faculty and administration of Auezov University extend their sincere congratulations to Askar Smailovich on receiving this prestigious title!
