The official opening event was attended by the university's Acting First Vice-Rector, Kurmangaly Sarykulov, and the Head of the Civil Defense Department of Shymkent’s Emergency Situations Office, Nurzhan Karakozev.

"Our department has been training specialists in life safety and environmental protection since 1991. Over the years, more than 1,000 students and more than 150 master's and Ph.D. graduates have completed our three-level training program. In 2024, the program received international accreditation, which is a major milestone for us. Cooperation with the Emergency Situations Department is essential, as it ensures that students of civil defense receive not only theoretical, but also practical training," K. Sarykulov said.

The new Civil Defense Cabinet is fully equipped with specialized tools, teaching materials and other essential resources, all provided by the Emergency Situations Department. As part of the opening event, specialists from the department organized an exhibition of firefighting and rescue equipment used in emergency situations. In addition, experts and researchers in the field conducted a seminar-training session on civil defense.
