Kazakhstan’s construction industry is evolving rapidly with the introduction of new technologies and methods. These innovations make work processes more efficient, reduce costs, and contribute to a greener environment. Bridging the gap between science and construction is more important than ever.
Today, the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University hosted the international scientific and practical conference "Modern Building Materials, Technologies, and Structures," dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Professor Zhambyl Talkhauly Aymenov—an renowned academician, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Honored Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event brought together leaders from the southern region, local government officials, university leaders, members of national academies of science, renowned scientists from Kazakhstan and abroad, and students. Discussions focused on the future of construction and how scientific advancements can drive progress in the industry.
Darkhan Ahmed-Zaki, Chairman of the Board and Rector of the University, spoke about Professor Aymenov’s remarkable contributions to science and congratulated him on his 70th birthday. He also presented him with congratulatory letters from the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek.
Prominent public figure Shalatai Myrzakhmetov and Chairman of the Shymkent City Maslikhat, Bakhadyr Narymbetov, also took the stage to highlight Aymenov’s significant role in advancing construction materials science in Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, international scientists joined the celebration virtually, sending video messages to express their admiration and appreciation for his work.
The conference featured five discussion panels, where participants discussed key topics such as modern building materials, digitalization, IT technologies in construction, and challenges in engineering education and academic strategy. Discussions took place both online and in person.
Zhambyl Aymenov has devoted nearly half a century to science and education, making a significant contribution to the mentoring of young specialists. A top graduate of the Kazakh Chemical-Technological Institute, he worked his way up from a lecturer to the first vice-rector of the university. Over the years, he has authored more than 400 works, including eight monographs, eight textbooks, and 20 teaching guides. He has three certificates of invention and three patents. In 2015, the International Public Academy of Authors of Scientific Discoveries and Inventions in Moscow recognized him as the author of a world-class scientific discovery.
