Kazakhstan has officially declared the year 2025 as the "Year of  Vocational Professions". This initiative is designed to highlight the importance of professional careers, attract young people to these fields, and prepare qualified  specialists for jobs in high demand in the labor market. In Shymkent, the city administration has formed a special task force and approved a regulatory framework to support the initiative. The regional plan is expected to involve more than 150,000 teachers, students, employers and local residents.

These issues were addressed at an on-site briefing attended by Shymkent Deputy Mayor Sarsen Kuranbek, university rectors, and college directors. Discussions focused on issues such as the training of skilled workers, employment opportunities, innovations in vocational and technical education, and the ability of educational institutions to produce skilled professionals.

Auezov University has already made significant efforts to meet the needs of the labor market. During the event, Gani Besbayev, Acting Rector and Chairman of the South Kazakhstan Research University named after M. Auezov, addressed journalists’ questions about the university’s efforts on the following topics.
