On 25-26^th April, 2019 ProfessionalDevelopmentandEngagementCenter and Department “Integration of scientific and publication activity” of M. Auezov SKSU held International seminar-training “Challenges in translation of scientific papers”.

The learning training has been devoted to problems of qualitative translation of scientific materials in English. Participants of the seminar analysed translationfeatures of scientific papers and abundant mistakes of a translator, consideredtranslation difficulties of the texts written in the scientific style.

Trainers of the seminar carried out master classes on the following themes:

·         Translating in a specialized context: understanding the challenges;

·         Scientific translation: insight into grammar, vocabulary and style;

·         Machine translation: advantages and disadvantages;

·         Peculiarities of Translation of Scientific and Technical texts

·         Lexical challenges in translation of scientific text into English.

The participants have exchanged their experience in the area of scientific translation and expressed the common opinion to continue this work and spend a series of training seminars on the subject. Participation certificates have been handed over all participants of the seminar.
