Today, Turkistan hosted the "Turkic Dastan" exhibition, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Batyrbek Utep who is a member of the USSR Union of Artists and professional painter, as well as one of the founders of Kazakhstani fine arts, particularly tapestry.
Prominent figures from the worlds of culture and art attended the event, as did members of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan, intellectuals, students of the master, his wife Bibaysha-ana, and their descendants.
Representing M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, the Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Culture and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Sadybek Kalmakhanovich Beisenbayev, attended the exhibition. In his welcoming speech, Kalmakhanovich emphasised Batyrbek Utep's invaluable contribution to the development of national applied arts, and highlighted the deep philosophical meaning of the 'Turkic Dastan' triptych.
"This historical canvas is a profound philosophical work that reflects the Turkic worldview and the spiritual roots of the Kazakh people." The artist portrays the Kazakh land as the cradle of humanity, conveying this concept through images of space, time and national symbols. This masterpiece still requires in-depth study. In October of this year, Auezov University will host a conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Batyrbek Tuganbaevich. At this event, we will present a book of the artist's works and a collection of scientific papers. 'We would like to express our gratitude to Bibaysha-apay for her unwavering commitment in gathering materials for this publication,' said S. Kalmakhanovich.
The exhibition featured over 20 of the artist's selected tapestries, reflecting the spiritual code and national values of the Kazakh people.
Batyrbek Utep is a master who has successfully combined painting and weaving techniques, thereby transforming the spirit of the Great Steppe into high art. Each of his works reflects national identity and his creative journey continues to inspire today's youth. The author's renowned triptych tapestry, Turkic Dastan, is housed in the official residence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, masterpieces such as Toi, Dastarkhan, Audaryspak, Aitys, Amanat and Bayterek have rightfully entered the golden fund of Kazakh tapestry art and received the highest acclaim from experts.
