A Round Table on “The Institution of the Presidency in Kazakhstan: New Factors of Constitutional Progress” Was Held

A roundtable discussion on the topic of 'The Institution of the Presidency in Kazakhstan: New Factors of Constitutional Progress” was held at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. Faculty members from the Faculty of Law and the Departments of History and Finance attended the event, as well as experts, young scholars and students.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the specific features of the development of the presidential system in Kazakhstan, and to explain the content and significance of constitutional reforms in public life.
During the session, Aisana Smankyzy, a Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, elaborated on the impact of constitutional reforms on the country’s development, explaining their role in strengthening the rule of law.
Sarsebay Karibayev, a Candidate of Historical Sciences and an Associate Professor in the Department of History, presented a historical analysis of the stages of the formation of the Constitution of Kazakhstan. He compared previous versions of the Constitution with the proposed new draft and clarified their key features. The speaker drew particular attention to the status of the state language and the protection of human values in the new document.
In turn, Utkur Aliyev, a Candidate of Historical Sciences and an Associate Professor in the Department of History, noted that the new draft of the Constitution clearly reflects the role and importance of the family institution in society, emphasising the significance of these values in the upbringing of the younger generation.
At the end of the roundtable discussion, participants exchanged views and discussed the prospects for constitutional development and further legal reforms in the country.
