As part of the celebrations for the 185th anniversary of the great educator, teacher, ethnographer and public figure Ybyrai Altynsarin, students from M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University have taken part in the "Shymkent-Torgay" historical and educational expedition. This expedition includes scientists and over 50 students from our educational institution.
The expedition's primary goal is to promote national values among young people, celebrate historical and cultural heritage, and raise awareness of Ybyrai Altynsarin's life and educational work. It also aims to deepen students' historical knowledge, stimulate interest in the country's history and foster a sense of patriotism.
At the departure ceremony, Gani Besbaev, the Acting Rector of the University, noted that this expedition is of great significance for young people. He wished the students a successful journey, hoping they would return from the historic sites with valuable experiences and memories.
During the expedition, the students will visit sacred sites and cultural and historical landmarks that are important to the history and spirituality of the Kazakh people. In particular, they will visit the Ybyrai Altynsarin Museum in Torgay, where they will learn about valuable records regarding the educator's life and creative heritage. Furthermore, the students will visit historic locations associated with prominent Kazakh figures and learn about their life paths and contributions to the country's development.
Participants of the eight-day expedition, travelling along the "Shymkent – Turkestan – Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan – Ulytau – Arkalyk – Kostanay – Karabutak – Aral – Baikonur – Kyzylorda – Turkestan" route, will provide daily updates about their journey and impressions.
It is worth noting that Auezov University regularly organises historical and educational expeditions and trips aimed at fostering historical awareness among young people and promoting national values. Last year, the university's students visited the Semey region, the birthplace of the renowned Abai, and had the opportunity to delve into the country's history and the heritage of its intellectuals.
