- Hits: 6
Today will be remembered as one of the most significant and special days in the history of Auezov University. As part of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Chemistry–2026: The Foundation for Sustainable Development of Science and Industry", a grand opening ceremony was held for a new landmark — the "Chemists' Alley" — on the university campus.
Prominent domestic and international scientists, academicians and conference guests attended the opening. The initiative aims to honour the work of scientists who have made invaluable contributions to the development of chemical science, inspire the interest of the younger generation in research, and promote scientific continuity.
The ceremony began with guests paying tribute to Academician Sultan Suleimenov and laying flowers at his monument.
In his welcoming remarks, Murat Zhurinov — Director General of the Research Institute of Petroleum Refining and Petrochemistry LLP, Honorary President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RK), Academician, Professor, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and a distinguished alumnus of our university — emphasised that the alley would certainly become a symbol of respect for science and education, as well as a special place to inspire students and young researchers.
Furthermore, Mikhail Nauryzbaev — Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor and Honoured Science Worker of Kazakhstan, who was Rector of our university from 1988 to 1991 — stated that this landmark is a significant gesture of respect to scientists.
