U. BESTEREKOV RESEARCH LABORATORY “WATER QUALITY MONITORING AND WATER TECHNOLOGIES”

Main directions of the research laboratory:

- monitoring studies of water quality, water resources in the southern regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

- participation in the training of bachelors, masters and PhD-doctoral students of the M. Auezov SKU and related universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

- providing methodological and practical assistance to laboratories of industrial production in conducting studies of the composition and properties of manufactured products using the method of atomic absorption spectrometry for the content of heavy metals and toxic impurities;

- improvement of traditional, creation of new technologies for industrial production for the processing of mineral raw materials and industrial waste.

Research carried out at the laboratory:

  1. Grant project of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022-2024. "AP15473115 Comprehensive study of the process of selective leaching of low-grade phosphorites using organic acids." Head – Raiymbekov Y.

The goal of the project is a comprehensive study of the process of enriching domestic low-grade phosphate raw materials with phosphorus (V) oxide using organic acids.

The project amount is 19 million tenge.

 

  1. Grant project of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2025. "AP19174296 Technology for producing organomineral feed additives from carbon-containing raw materials to increase the productivity of poultry farming in the southern region." Head – Kambatyrov M.

The goal of the project is to develop a scientifically based technology for the production of organomineral feed additives from brown coal mining waste to increase the productivity of poultry.

The project amount is 24 million tenge.

 

  1. Grant “Tauelsizdik urpaktary 2024” Ministry of Culture and Information. The topic of the project is “Assessing the impact of heavy metal pollution on the environment and health in the Syrdarya River basin.” Grant holder – Raiymbekov Y.

The purpose of the project is a detailed assessment of heavy metal pollution, environmental impact assessment, studying the impact of heavy metal pollution on river ecosystems, health risk assessment: assess the potential health risks posed by heavy metal pollution to communities living along the river.

The grant amount is 3 million tenge.


          The research laboratory is currently implementing a grant funding project for 2024-2026 on topic AP23487663, "Comprehensive Study of Nanostructured Water: Thermal, Electrical, and Structural Characteristics of Aqueous Systems."

          One project (AP26194381, "Development and Optimization of Copper-Containing Organometallic Compounds (MOFs) for the Catalytic Adsorption of Heavy Metals in Water Purification Systems") has been submitted to the grant funding competition for 2025-2027. One project (BR28713547, "Development and Study of Universal Hybrid Nanostructured Catalysts and Photocatalysts Based on Metal-Organic Frameworks, Magnetic Nanoparticles, and Porous Ceramics for the Purification of Aqueous Environments from Heavy Metals and Organic Pollutants") has been submitted to the program-targeted funding competition for 2025-2027. Two projects were submitted to the scientific project competition announced by the German Science Foundation (Development of Composite Sorbent Materials from Lignite Waste for Selective Removal of Fibrous Microplastics and Inorganic Pollutants from Wastewater), Development and Study of Universal Hybrid Nanostructured Catalysts and Photocatalysts Based on MOFs, Magnetic Nanoparticles, and Porous Ceramics for Water Purification from Heavy Metals and Organic Pollutants). One project was submitted to the Green Spark project competition of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the topic of Development and application of catalytic adsorption systems based on organometallic compounds for innovative water purification from heavy metals in the Syr Darya River basin. In 2024, one research project was completed under the "Tәuelsіzdіk ұрпақтары" grant for state support of new and existing youth initiatives aimed at developing an active creative youth community, appointed by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
