Admission procedure for training at the military department

Students no older than 24 years of age in the year of the competition are eligible to participate.

The selection process for students to study at the military department is carried out in four stages:

First stage: Passing a medical examination in accordance with the Rules for Conducting Military-Medical Excellence Examinations in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Regulations on Military-Medical Examination Commissions, approved by Order No. 716 of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 21, 2020 (registered in the State Registration Register of Normative Legal Acts under No. 21869).

Second stage: Professional psychological testing.

Third stage: Physical fitness testing.

Fourth stage: Competitive selection based on a rating score calculation developed and approved by the head of the Higher and (or) Postgraduate Education Institution (HPEI). For students who have graduated from technical, vocational, or post-secondary education organizations, the Grade Point Average (GPA) is determined based on the diploma supplement.

[!IMPORTANT] Each stage of the competition may be attempted only once.

Application Process

Students wishing to participate in the competition for the military department must submit an application starting February 1st of the year of admission. Applications are submitted via the "Electronic Government" web portal www.egov.kz (hereinafter – the portal). The application must be signed with an electronic digital signature (EDS) or certified by a one-time password, provided the recipient's mobile number is registered and linked to the portal account, in accordance with the template in Appendix 2 of these Rules.

Military Training Duration

  1. Reserve Officers Program: At least 2 years and 5 months.
  2. Reserve Sergeants Program: At least 1 year and 5 months.

Awarding of Military Ranks

  • Lieutenant of the Reserve: Regarding the awarding of this rank, the head of the military department (military faculty) interacts with the structural unit of the Ministry of Defense of the RK in charge of human resources, which submits the relevant orders for approval to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Sergeant of the Reserve: Regarding the awarding of this rank, the head of the military department (military faculty) interacts with the local military administration body and the structural unit of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the RK in charge of organizational and mobilization work.
