Official Visit of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Chirchik Branch of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University

On 26 November 2025, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, visited the Chirchik branch of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University in the Republic of Uzbekistan and took part in a ceremonial event dedicated to International Students’ Day.
The event was also attended by Uzoqboy Begimkulov, Director of the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel of the Higher Education System under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki, Chairman of the Board – Rector of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University; Botir Usmanov, Rector of the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute; Jasur Mukhamedov, Director of the “Chirchik” Chemical-Industrial Technopark; as well as a number of rectors of Kazakhstani universities.
The program was aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the universities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, expanding academic mobility, developing scientific collaboration and launching new educational initiatives. Special emphasis was placed on promoting friendship between the youth of the two countries and advancing joint innovation projects.
During the event, the parties discussed new areas of cooperation between universities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, exchanged experience in academic mobility, digitalization, and innovation, and explored opportunities for strengthening ties between industrial companies and universities. Joint educational programs and scientific initiatives were presented. A cultural program symbolizing the friendship between the youth of both countries was also organized. The event became an important step toward developing international partnerships, improving the quality of education, and expanding opportunities for students of both states.
The delegation led by the Minister visited several classrooms and laboratories to observe the educational process. The members of the delegation toured a specialized mock courtroom for the «Law» program and commended the strong professional skills demonstrated by the students. They also visited robotics, programming, and digital engineering laboratories, where they were introduced to students’ IT projects.
In his address, Minister Sayasat Nurbek noted: «The Chirchik branch of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University is actively implementing modernization of the educational process, strengthening its digital infrastructure, and expanding practice-oriented learning. The branch holds strategic importance in shaping a modern regional educational space.»
He further emphasized that initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education and expanding the scientific environment will receive comprehensive support.
As part of the event, a ceremonial presentation of student ID cards was held for first-year students. After the meeting, the Minister delivered a special lecture for students of the Kazakhstani branch.
It should be noted that in 2024, with the participation of the Heads of State of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the official opening ceremony of the Chirchik branch of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University took place.
