The International Summer Online School "Modern Trends in STEM Education" in the framework of the project "Integrated Approach to STEM Teacher Training" of the Erasmus + program

M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University held from July 27 to July 31, 2020 the International Summer Online School "Modern Trends in STEM Education" in the framework of the project "Integrated Approach to STEM Teacher Training" of the Erasmus + programfor students of educational programs in the field of educational and natural sciences, engineering, technology and future STEM teachers.Within the framework of the summer school speakers from 7 HEI-s of the near and far abroad countries were invited, such as Linköping University(Sweden), University of Helsinki (Finland), Southern Federal University, Belgorod State University, A. I. Kant Baltic Federal University (Russia Federation ) and L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University (Kazakhstan).
The online format of the school made it possible to attract more than 60 listeners for work of the Schoolfrom two countries - Russia and Kazakhstan. Among the participants were university HEI teachers, school teachers, as well as potential applicants for a master's degree in STEM pedagogy.
During the school's work, listeners received unique opportunities to improve their skills and deepen their knowledge in the application of STEM educational strategies, got acquainted with the methods and practical examples of project-based learning (PBL), learning through research (IBL), learning based on phenomena (PhBL) - the key methodologies of STEM education, also got acquainted with lean technologies in STEM, cognitive technologies in training a STEM teacher, with the basics of robotics in STEM, etc.
During the School, much attention was paid to project work. Within the framework of 2 projects, the participants united into teams led by moderators from the Southern Federal University. Students of the School were able to find out how the project work is organized in companies for the pedagogical design of an educational STEM product.
For reference: The project "Integrated Approach to STEM Teacher Training" within the framework of the Erasmus + program of the European Commission has been implemented since January 2019, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University is one of the members of the consortium of universities of the European project. This consortium includes 9 partner universities from Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Turkey, Russia and Kazakhstan. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of training for STEM teachers in accordance with the provisions of the Bologna Process and the requirements of the modern knowledge economy.
