Online briefing on the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent Neutrality

On May 28, 2020, an online briefing on the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality was held at South Kazakhstan State University with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The briefing was attended by faculty, university students, as well as specially invited experts. During the event, the topic of the role of the Turkmen model of neutrality in ensuring peace and stability in the world was raised, and aspects of developing Turkmen-Kazakh fraternal relations were discussed.
On December 12, 1995, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the special Resolution “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan”, which affirmed the country's unique international legal status. For its adoption at a session of the UN General Assembly, 185 member states of the world community unanimously voted. As participants in the meeting noted peace, non-interference in the affairs of other states, respect for their sovereignty, non-participation in international military organizations and treaties, equal mutually beneficial cooperation - these are the key provisions of the policy of positive neutrality.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution “On the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” in Ashgabat, capital of Neutral Turkmenistan, on December 11-12, 2020, the International Conference “The Policy of Neutrality and Its Importance in Ensuring International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development” will be held, where leaders are invited many countries of the world and authoritative international organizations, prominent figures of politics, science and culture of the world.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the foreign policy status in Turkmenistan and abroad, throughout the whole of 2020, under the motto “Turkmenistan is the homeland of neutrality”, a series of various events will be held dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the memorable event.
