Our graduate is a two – time Asian games champion

Sofya Berultseva a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Oil and Gas Engineering at Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University, won the gold medal in the +68 kg karate category at the 2026 Asian Games, becoming a two-time Asian Games champion.
At the competition held in the Japanese cities of Aichi-Nagoya, Sofya proudly represented Kazakhstan and claimed the top spot on the podium. This achievement is the result of the athlete’s hard work and continuous training.
A ceremonial welcome was held for the champion in her hometown. In front of the Kazhymukan Central Stadium, Sofya was warmly welcomed by her family and friends, coaches, representatives of the local akimat and the sports community, as well as her fans.
