The first step to a career in public service: what opportunities are available for young people?

A meeting was held at Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan University to encourage young people to pursue a career in public service and introduce them to new opportunities in this field.
During the meeting students were informed about:
* new rules and approaches to selection for public service;
* changes in competitive selection procedures;
* opportunities for graduates who successfully complete their studies to enter public service without going through a competitive selection process;
* new requirements for public servants.
In addition the participants discussed the digitalization of public service, improving candidate selection mechanisms, strengthening the principles of meritocracy and developing a modern model of public service.
During the meeting students asked questions of interest to them, received specific information about public service and gained professional guidance.
The meeting titled “Elge qyzmet: Responsibility and Opportunity” featured Gani Besbayev, Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Affairs at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University; K. Kadyrbekov, Head of the Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs in Shymkent; and well-known political analyst S. Aralbayuly as speakers.
