Seminar on the Development of Regional Science and Technology Policy Held in Shymkent

On 21 May 2026, a seminar on the development of regional science and technology policy was organised at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University in Shymkent, with the participation of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event's primary goal was to establish the future trajectory of regional science, connect scientific research with the real economy, and explore effective methods for implementing scientific projects.
During the seminar, the participants attended an educational training session on foresight methodology. The seminar also covered key topics such as the development of scientific and technical specifications for regional R&D projects, funding mechanisms for scientific initiatives through local executive bodies, and competitive procedures.
The event brought together representatives from higher education institutions, scientific organisations, the innovation ecosystem and industry associations. Participants discussed ways to advance applied research, implement scientific results in production and support regional innovation projects.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening interaction between science, business and the public sector, and on enhancing the region's scientific and innovative potential.
At the end of the seminar, participants emphasised the importance of expanding regional scientific cooperation and continuing to work together to support scientific and innovative initiatives.
