CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD – RECTOR OF M. AUEZOV SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY, DARKHAN AKHMED- ZAKI, HELD MEETINGS WITH THE LEADERSHIP OF UZBEKISTAN’S LEADING UNIVERSITIES

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – March 26, 2025

As part of his working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board – Rector of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University , Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki, met with the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Inomjon Majidov. During the negotiations, the parties discussed key areas and prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation between the universities and put forward several important initiatives.

Following the meeting, an agreement was signed to launch a dual-degree master’s program in “Chemistry.” The implementation of this program will allow students to obtain diplomas from both universities, deepen their professional knowledge, and expand their academic opportunities.

As part of the visit, a tour of the “Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology” laboratories at NUU was conducted. Rector Inomjon Majidov introduced the laboratory’s modern equipment, detailing its applications in the educational process (lectures, practical sessions, and thesis work), scientific research activities (master’s and PhD dissertations, work of applicants and research interns, execution of grants and contract-based research), as well as its use in collaboration with industrial enterprises and research institutes of Uzbekistan.

Later that day, the SKU delegation visited Tashkent Chemical-Technological University (TCTU). During the discussions, the parties reached an agreement to develop a joint educational program in “Food Engineering” and “Biotechnology.” Leading researchers from TCTU presented the latest scientific achievements and developments in the fields of agricultural and chemical research and discussed ongoing collaborative projects with scholars from M. Auezov SKU.

Summarizing the visit, Rector Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki emphasized that the main goal of the meetings at Uzbekistan’s leading universities was to expand scientific potential, foster academic collaborations, organize joint conferences, and facilitate faculty and student exchanges as part of academic mobility programs.

This visit represents a significant step toward strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which will enhance the quality of specialist training and enable the joint implementation of cutting-edge research and educational projects.
