Renovation of the Densaulyk sports complex has begun

Renovation and modernisation work has begun at the Densaulyk Sports Complex (Spartak Field), a well-known facility among Shymkent residents and students. The work is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.

The renovation of the complex which has not undergone major repairs in 30 years is one of the key initiatives of the university's leadership and team. In July this year Chairman of the Board - Rector Mukhtar Tolegen together with the heads of the relevant departments, inspected the facility and assessed its condition. Taking into account the suggestions and requests of local residents and students, the university identified the renovation as one of its priority tasks.

As part of the project the sports facilities, the building itself and the surrounding grounds will all be upgraded.

-Outdoor Sports Facilities. Natural grass will be laid on the main football field and an automated, water-saving irrigation system will be installed. The complex will also feature three mini-football pitches, a tennis court, volleyball and basketball courts and a workout area. The running tracks will be fitted with shock-absorbing tartan surfacing, and a new grandstand with seating for 712 spectators will be installed. The outdoor lighting system will also be upgraded.

-Sports Building. The heating, ventilation and lighting systems in the two-storey complex will be modernised and thermal insulation will be improved. The men's and women's shower and changing facilities will undergo complete renovation and be equipped with the necessary amenities.

-Complex Grounds. The surrounding area will be landscaped, greenery will be planted and comfortable conditions will be created for visitors.

The task of promoting mass sports as outlined by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his Address to the Nation is being carried out through practical initiatives such as this. "Our shared goal is to create opportunities for students and city residents to engage in regular physical activity and improve their health" noted Rector Mukhtar Tolegen.

The university leadership and responsible specialists will closely monitor the progress of the work to ensure that it is completed to a high standard and within the established timeframe.
