Rector: quality and discipline must go hand in hand in military training

Chairman of the Board-Rector of Auezov South Kazakhstan University Mukhtar Tolegen visited the Military Department, familiarized himself with its activities and met with the staff.
The meeting addressed issues related to improving the quality of military training, enhancing the educational and practical training process, strengthening the material and technical facilities and fostering military discipline among students. Mukhtar Tolegen visited the department’s classrooms and specialized facilities and familiarized himself with the condition of the training facilities used for military training.
"Respect for the Armed Forces must be upheld. We need to prioritize raising students level of knowledge and improving their professional training" he said.
The Military Department which has been operating since 1963, has trained more than 22 000 officers and sergeants to date. Currently 27 faculty members work at the department. A total of 355 students are enrolled in nine military training programs.
The Chairman of the Board - Rector also placed particular emphasis on the professional knowledge and practical skills of future sergeants.
"They must be proficient in combat training and the fundamentals of command, observe military discipline, know military regulations and have a thorough understanding of the law. We will create opportunities for them to exchange experience with other educational institutions" said Mukhtar Tolegen.
