Education, science and business: Auezov university and Chinese partners expand joint projects

On September 24, 2026, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University hosted a meeting with a delegation from Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Xi’an, People’s Republic of China.
During the meeting, the parties discussed further development of cooperation in education, science, academic mobility, joint educational programs, and engagement with the business community.
One of the main topics was the further development of the China Center for Belt and Road Business Environment Services, established with the participation of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, and the Management Company of the Ontustik Special Economic Zone.
The Center is intended to serve as a practical platform connecting universities, the expert community, and businesses from both countries. Its key areas of activity include expert support for Kazakh and Chinese companies, joint research, the study of cross-border trade and commercial relations, as well as professional training.
Particular attention was also given to the development of academic cooperation. The two universities are already implementing student exchanges and intend to further expand academic mobility, develop joint educational programs, promote faculty exchange, and strengthen cooperation in research and joint publications.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on a concrete cooperation plan for 2026-2027. The plan will include further development of the Center’s activities, the launch of joint research and applied projects, and continued work on joint educational programs.
Cooperation between Auezov University and Northwest University of Political Science and Law is developing within the broader partnership between Shymkent and Xi’an, which have been sister cities since 2023. The current priority is to translate existing agreements into concrete educational, research, and practical projects.
