Auezov university students compete in a global hackathon

One of the major international IT competitions in the field of artificial intelligence the “HackAlem AI” hackathon is currently taking place in Astana. The large scale event is being held at the “Expo” International Exhibition Centre with 20 students from Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University participating and presenting their projects.
The hackathon held in partnership with OpenAI aims to develop innovative products that use AI technologies to offer solutions to pressing issues facing society. As part of the competition projects are being developed across 10 areas covering public services, finance, education and other important sectors.
Participants have only five hours to refine their project ideas and present their software products. This short timeframe tests not only the young participants technical knowledge but also their creativity, teamwork skills and ability to quickly solve specific problems.
For Auezov University students participating in the hackathon this is an important platform for exchanging experience with international experts, enhancing their knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and presenting their projects to experts and potential investors.
It is worth noting that the total prize pool of the competition is USD 1.1 million. The winners of the hackathon will be awarded at the upcoming AI & Digital Bridge 2026 Forum.
