International Opportunities for Students of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University: Rector Meets with Academic Mobility Participants

On September 18, 2026, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University hosted a meeting between the Chairman of the Board - Rector, Mukhtar Adilbekovich Tolegen, and students preparing to study at foreign universities under the academic mobility program.
The meeting took place at the University’s newly opened coworking center and brought together students who will soon begin their studies abroad, students who have already completed their academic mobility programs at foreign universities, as well as students who are currently studying abroad and joined the meeting online.
Addressing the students, the Rector emphasized that one of the University’s key priorities is to prepare competitive graduates who are capable of building successful careers both in Kazakhstan and in the international labor market.
Particular attention was given to the importance of international education, the development of professional and language competencies, the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, adapt to new conditions, and apply international best practices.
The Rector noted that the University is consistently creating conditions to expand international opportunities for its students by developing academic mobility, double-degree programs, international educational projects, cooperation with foreign universities, and student exchange programs.
In the fall semester of the 2026-2027 academic year, 178 students are participating in outbound academic mobility programs abroad.
The University also provides significant financial support for the development of academic mobility. In 2026, KZT 62 million from the University’s extra-budgetary funds was allocated for the implementation of the outbound academic mobility program.
Students of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University are currently studying at universities in Germany, Poland, Belgium, Türkiye, China, Azerbaijan, Spain, Latvia, Russia, and other countries.
During the meeting, students who had already completed their studies abroad shared their experiences. They spoke about adapting to a new environment, the academic culture of foreign universities, academic requirements, and opportunities for professional development.
It was emphasized that the University’s international activities are primarily aimed at expanding educational opportunities for students.
In addition to academic mobility, students have opportunities to participate in Erasmus+, international exchange programs, summer schools, joint educational projects, and double-degree programs.
Holding the meeting at the University’s new coworking center also symbolically reflected the ongoing changes taking place at the University. The material and technical infrastructure continues to be strengthened, while modern spaces are being created for learning, communication, and the implementation of student initiatives.
The Department of Internationalization and Recruitment will continue its work to expand cooperation with foreign universities, develop academic mobility and international educational programs, and support students at all stages of their participation in international programs.
The key objective of this work is to broaden opportunities for students, enhance the competitiveness of graduates, and strengthen the position of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University in the international higher education landscape.
