Auezov University: International Summer School for French Language Teachers Begins

The grand opening of the International Summer School for French Language Teachers from Central Asian Universities took place at M. Auezov SKU. Organised jointly with the University of Poitiers and supported by the Embassy of France, the project aims to develop international educational and scientific partnerships, strengthen academic cooperation and foster intercultural ties.

During the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board and Rector, Darkhan Ahmed-Zaki, emphasised that developing partnerships with French higher education institutions and the Francophone academic community is a key priority in the university's international strategy, and highlighted the importance of collaborating with the University of Poitiers.

Greta Komur, Attaché for Educational Cooperation at the Embassy of France, noted that the summer school's main value lies in enabling French language teachers from Central Asian countries to share their experiences and strengthen their professional networks.

Running from 25 May to 2 June, the summer school programme covers the methodology of teaching French as a foreign language, language didactics (from theory to practice), practical sessions and guided tours of Shymkent.

During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Poitiers and M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University.

Dr Licia Bagini, a representative of the University of Poitiers, thanked the organisers, stating that this agreement would elevate the academic and scientific ties between the two institutions to a new level.

Ainur Sabitova, Director of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, also participated in the event online, emphasising the importance of the summer school in improving the quality of French language teaching.

At the end of the event, participants took a group photo and wished the summer school programme success.
