Today, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University hosted the grand opening of the Serikzhan Seitzhanov Conference Hall. The hall is named after Serikzhan Seitzhanovich Seitzhanov, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a doctor of technical sciences and an honorary professor at the university.

The solemn event was attended by distinguished guests including Bakhytzhan Tursynovich Zhumagulov, a prominent state and public figure, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor and president of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Begen Omarovich Esimov, an Excellence in Education of the RK and State Prize laureate, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences and professor; Zhusip Tashirbayevich Suleimenov, a Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, academician of the NAS RK, honoured worker of education of the RK and honoured figure of Kazakhstan; Kerimzhan Seitzhanovich Seitzhanov, a Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, Excellence in Education of the RK and recipient of the Order of Kurmet; and Ernar Imangaliyevich Imangaliyev, vice-rector for academic affairs of the university.

The ceremony was also attended by renowned scientists, the university's faculty and staff, and the family and relatives of Serikzhan Seitzhanovich.

The attendees paid tribute by laying flowers at the monument to Academician Sultan Suleimenov. Then, following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting of the new conference hall, participants watched a documentary film about Serikzhan Seitzhanovich's achievements in education, science and industry.

In his opening speech, Academician Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov congratulated those gathered on Science Month and the opening of the lecture hall. He particularly highlighted Serikzhan Seitzhanov's significant contributions to the development of domestic science and education.

Throughout the event, guests fondly reminisced about Professor Seitzhanov's time as a student, his scientific research and its practical application in industry, and his personal attributes and commitment to serving the nation.

In turn, Honorary Professor Serikzhan Seitzhanovich paid tribute to his mentor, Academician Sultan Suleimenov, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude:

'In 1969, I came to this university as a student. Nearly 60 years have passed since then. During this time, I have had the privilege of learning from qualified teachers and working in education, science and industry. Today, I am happy to see the fruits of that labour. I would like to thank you all."

The opening of this conference hall marks a significant milestone in the university's history. This modern venue will serve as a platform for scientific conferences, international meetings, lectures and major academic events. Furthermore, it will become a centre for new ideas and initiatives, inspiring young scientists and students to contribute to the country's development.

Most importantly, the hall honours the legacy of the distinguished alumnus and prominent scholar, Serikzhan Seitzhanovich, setting an inspiring example of scientific and educational dedication for future generations.
