Akmaral Aitbayeva Wins "Drama.kz" National Playwriting Festival

Akmaral Nurgaliyevna Aitbayeva, a lecturer in the Department of Arts at the Faculty of Culture and Art at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University and a Master of Art History, has emerged as the winner of the 2026 "Drama.kz" National Playwriting Festival.
Her original play Cappuccino was selected among the top twelve finalists out of 89 entries submitted to the competition and presented to audiences in Almaty in a staged reading format.
The performance was directed by Aridash Ospanbayeva, a director at the M. Auezov Kazakh National Drama Theatre.
Additionally, Cappuccino received high acclaim from the European theatre network EURODRAM this year as one of the finest Kazakh-language dramatic works, successfully securing a spot on its international shortlist.
