Foundation: A space of education, adaptation and new opportunities

The Foundation Center at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University is an educational platform that prepares foreign citizens and Kazakh diaspora members abroad for admission to higher education institutions.
The Center provides applicants with information and counselling support, creating all the necessary conditions for their successful university admission and comprehensive adaptation to their new environment.
In August 2018, the management of international students was transferred to the Department of International Relations and the pre-university training department was established as an independent center. Since 19 January 2026, the center has been officially renamed the Foundation Center.
Key areas of activity:
- Preparatory courses for Kazakh diaspora members living abroad
- Preparatory courses for foreign students paying tuition fees
- Preparatory courses for regional high school graduates
Educational process
Foreign citizens with general secondary, technical, vocational or post-secondary education are eligible for admission to the preparatory courses.
Duration of study: 9 months
Mode of study: Full-time (on-campus) and distance learning
Class organisation: Training is conducted using modern electronic platforms.
During their studies, students will enhance their knowledge of core subjects, learn Kazakh, Russian and foreign languages, study the history of Kazakhstan and prepare systematically for comprehensive university entrance testing. Mock tests are also regularly conducted to help applicants familiarise with the exam format.
Admission procedure:
Application submission and enrolment are carried out in two stages:
Stage I (July–September): The first selection stage is managed by the Admissions Committee of M. Auezov SKU. Application documents are accepted from July to September.
Stage II (15–30 September): Student enrollment is based on the results of entrance examinations and interviews.
Exams will be held in both offline and online formats via the Zoom platform.
Facilities and learning opportunities
The Foundation Center provides its students with everything they need for a high-quality education. Students enjoy free access to university library and reading room resources. Research groups, creative studios and sports clubs make student life vibrant and fulfilling, while the close proximity of student dormitories to academic buildings ensures maximum convenience for learners.
To help international students settle in quickly, various cultural, educational and social events are organised regularly. These activities help students to learn more about the culture, traditions and literature of the Kazakh people and to engage actively in public life.
Over 80% of Foundation graduates successfully obtain state educational grants and enrol at the country's leading universities. Students at the Center regularly participate in various international, national and regional competitions, winning top prizes.
