Discussion of Kazakhstan’s New Draft Constitution at Auezov University

A substantive discussion of the draft new constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. Deputy Akim of Shymkent, Sarsen Kuranbek, attended the event and engaged in an open and meaningful dialogue with young people.
Opening the meeting, Gani Besbayev, the university's Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Affairs, emphasised that the proposed constitutional reform is not merely an update of legal norms, but a strategically important step that will shape the country's future.
Sarsen Kuranbek emphasised that constitutional reform is essential for the sustainable development of the state. He also noted that discussing the draft constitution is an important and responsible historical stage for every citizen, particularly young people.
During the meeting, the heads of the Departments of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure (Doctor of Law and Professor Aisana Smankyzy), Political Science (PhD, Associate Professor Ardak Montaev) and State and Legal Disciplines (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Bolatbek Tleulov) provided detailed explanations of the key aspects of the reform and the proposed changes, using concrete examples to illustrate them.
According to the experts, the proposed changes aim to strengthen the mutual responsibility of the state and society, and offer new opportunities to effectively implement legal norms. They noted that the reform focuses on enhancing the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms and on increasing the transparency and impartiality of the public administration system.
During the discussion, students actively shared their views and demonstrated a keen interest in the topic.
