Gulnara Karbozova was born on 24 March 1968 in Shymkent, South Kazakhstan region, Kazakhstan. In 1990, she graduated from Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages with a qualification as a secondary school teacher of German and English.
She began her professional career in 1990 as a German and English language teacher in secondary schools of South Kazakhstan region.
From 1998 to 2002, she worked as a Senior Lecturer at Department of General Philology, Shymkent Branch of Kazakh State Law University (KazSLU).
From 2002 to 2004, she served as a Head of Student Affairs Office at South Kazakhstan Institute of Law, Finance and Financial Law (KazSLU), Shymkent.
From 2004 to 2005, she was a Senior Lecturer at Department of Language Disciplines at South Kazakhstan Institute of Law, Finance and Financial Law (KazSLU), Shymkent.
From 2005 to 2012, she was Head of Department of Foreign Languages for Technical Specialties at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University.
From 2012 to 2021, she was Head of Department of English Linguistics at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University.
From 2021 to 2025, she was Head of Department of Modern Languages and Translation Studies at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University.
Since January 5, 2026, she has been appointed as a Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University.
