The present and future of journalism: can AI replace journalists?

A meeting with students was held at Auezov University, bringing together members of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan. The event aimed to introduce future journalists to the latest developments in the media industry and provide an opportunity to exchange professional experience.

During the meeting participants discussed current trends in journalism the role of social media in disseminating information and the relationship between television journalism and digital media. The experts emphasised that, alongside preparing news content, journalists must also be able to communicate it to audiences clearly and effectively through social media. The discussion also covered the role of social journalism in society, ways of engaging with the public and approaches to highlighting pressing social issues.

Particular attention was given to the impact of artificial intelligence on journalism. Participants noted that AI is an effective tool for streamlining the processes of gathering and analysing information as well as preparing media content. However, they emphasised that it cannot fully replace a journalist's professional responsibility and creative abilities.

During the event Auezov University graduate Ayaulym Eralhanovna was presented with a membership card of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the meeting, students had the opportunity to exchange views freely with industry professionals and receive answers to their questions. It is worth noting that such meetings help shape the professional outlook of future journalists, provide opportunities to gain practical experience, and deepen their understanding of the changes taking place in the modern media landscape.
