Honouring tradition: respected elders and community leaders gather at the university

Today, Mukhtar Tolegen Chairman of the Board - Rector of Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University, met with representatives of the region’s intellectual community, respected public figures and distinguished elders.
The meaningful gatheringheld around a traditional Kazakh dastarkhan was attended by Honorary Citizens of Shymkent led by Orynbay Rakhmanberdiyev, as well as labour veterans and prominent public figures, including Shalatai Myrzakhmetov, Serikzhan Seitzhanov, Beket Turgarayev, Zhamalbek Sharipbek, Kenzhekhan Tolebayev, Kuanysh Aitakhanov and other respected members of the community.
Most of the distinguished guests are graduates of this university, an institution with a rich history and cherished traditions. Their return to their alma mater to offer heartfelt wishes and blessings is a vivid reflection of the continuity between generations.
In Kazakh culture elders are regarded as a priceless treasure and their blessings as a source of prosperity. Highlighting the significance of this tradition, Mukhtar Tolegen expressed his respect for the distinguished guests and emphasised the importance of their life experience and exemplary journeys in educating and guiding the younger generation.
“Every word you speak reflects a lifetime of experience, and everything you do sets an example for the younger generation. Our goal is to uphold the reputation of this university, continue the good traditions you have established, and educate a knowledgeable generation devoted to their country. We have major responsibilities ahead of us, and we will always need your advice and blessings along the way. We will remain your younger brothers, guided by your blessings,” said the Rector.
He wished the distinguished elders good health and long lives, expressing confidence that the university’s spiritual connection with its alumni and the continuity of generations would continue to thrive.
In turn the respected community leaders expressed their appreciation for the positive changes taking place at the university and described Mukhtar Tolegen’s appointment as head of the institution as a wise decision. The elders wished the Rector every success in his responsible role and expressed their sincere hopes for the university’s continued achievements and a promising future. They also affirmed their readiness to share their life experience and contribute to the common goal of providing quality education and meaningful guidance to the younger generation.
The gathering was enriched by traditional Kazakh instrumental music and melodious songs, creating a special spiritual atmosphere. During the event several individuals who have made significant contributions to regional development and the advancement of education and science were ceremonially presented with the "Abay Qunanbaiuly" and "Mukhtar Auezov" badges of honour.
At the conclusion of the meeting the honoured guests received special gifts on behalf of the University Rector and were presented with traditional Kazakh chapan robes in accordance with national customs.
