Kazakhstan celebrates Republic Day on October 25. To mark this significant national occasion, an international scientific conference entitled “Republic Day of Kazakhstan: History, Lessons from the Past and Scientific Achievements” was held at the Chirchik Branch of M. Auezov University in Uzbekistan.
The conference was attended by Yeraly Tugzhanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan; Gafurjan Mukhamedov, Rector of Chirchik State Pedagogical University; Mukhtar Tolegen, Chairman of the Board and Rector of M. Auezov University; and Serikbay Usenov, Chairman of the Republican Kazakh National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan. The participants highlighted the historical significance of Republic Day in the establishment and development of Kazakhstan’s statehood.
“The Declaration of State Sovereignty, adopted on October 25, 1990, marked our country’s first and most important step towards independence. Our two brotherly nations, united by a shared historical destiny, strived together to overcome foreign domination and achieve freedom, pursuing a common aspiration to establish their own statehood. Independence did not come easily to the countries of the Commonwealth. Therefore, we must cherish and safeguard our sovereignty and national symbols,” Ambassador Yeraly Tugzhanov stated.
In his address, Mukhtar Tolegen, Chairman of the Board and Rector of M. Auezov University, reflected on the major historical milestones associated with Republic Day and spoke to students about the opportunities created for the younger generation in an era of peace and stability.
“The future of our country lies in the hands of educated young people,” the Rector emphasized.
A significant highlight of the conference was the conferment of the title of Honorary Professor of Auezov University upon Ambassador Yeraly Tugzhanov in recognition of his outstanding contribution to strengthening Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan relations, particularly in advancing integration and cooperation in science and education.
The conference also featured an awards ceremony honoring scholars who have made significant contributions to the development of spiritual and scientific ties between the two brotherly nations.
In addition, a solemn First-Year Student Induction Ceremony was held for students embarking on their university journey. The students were presented with their student identification cards and a symbolic key to the university, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their academic lives.
