Kazakhstan-Hungary Business Forum takes place

The Kazakhstan-Hungary Business Forum was held at the Kyzgaldak Cultural Center in Shymkent. Organized by the Akimat of Shymkent, the event was aimed at strengthening trade, economic, investment and business ties between Kazakhstan and Hungary.
The Forum was held as part of the visit to Shymkent by a Hungarian delegation headed by László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen. The event was attended by Aydyn Karimov, First Deputy Akim of Shymkent; Mukhtar Tolegen, Chairman of the Management Board - Rector of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University; representatives of government bodies, development institutions, the Chamber of Entrepreneurs, as well as business communities of the two countries.
In his remarks, Mukhtar Tolegen emphasized that Kazakhstan and Hungary are connected not only by strategic partnership, but also by deep historical and cultural ties. The Kipchak heritage holds a special place in the shared historical memory of the two peoples.
Speaking about the prospects for cooperation between Shymkent and Debrecen, the Rector highlighted the considerable potential for collaboration in education, science and innovation. Priority areas include the expansion of academic mobility, implementation of joint and dual-degree programs, development of joint research, as well as academic and research internships.
M.Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University is interested in implementing joint projects with Hungarian partners in artificial intelligence, Data Science and Computer Science, engineering, mechatronics and robotics, precision agriculture, food technologies and biotechnology, environmental studies and water resources management, economics and business, as well as law.
Particular attention was also given to expanding cooperation within the Erasmus+ program and to opportunities for joint participation in international research consortia under Horizon Europe.
As a continuation of the dialogue, a visit of the Hungarian delegation to M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University is scheduled for 9 October 2026. During the meeting, the parties will discuss specific areas for implementing joint educational and research initiatives with the University of Debrecen.
The Forum also featured a presentation of Shymkent’s economic and investment potential, as well as B2B meetings between Kazakhstani and Hungarian entrepreneurs. The parties discussed prospects for developing investment and technological partnerships, establishing new business contacts and implementing joint projects.
The Kazakhstan-Hungary Business Forum became an important platform for strengthening direct ties between Shymkent and Debrecen and opened up new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy, education, science and innovation.
