Auezov South Kazakhstan University hosted the opening of the 18th National Student Subject Olympiad in the field of Natural Sciences ("B051 - Biology"). Bringing together talented students from across the country, this intellectual competition serves as a key platform for advancing the professional knowledge and scientific potential of young biologists.
During the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work Gani Besbayev welcomed the participants, emphasizing the crucial role of biology in modern society:
"Today, biological science plays a vital role in healthcare, ecology, biotechnology, agriculture, and environmental protection. The young people pursuing deep knowledge in this field are the skilled specialists who will shape our country's future. This Olympiad is a great platform for honing scientific thinking and exchanging experience. I am confident that your dedication will give new impetus to the development of science. I wish all participants the best of luck and outstanding results," stated Gani Abzelbekuly.
Dr. A. Musabekov, Head of the Department of Biology and Geography, outlined the rules of the competition and introduced the jury members, team leads, and participants.
The competition features 2nd to 4th-year university students from across Kazakhstan. Around 40 participants are competing in two stages: the first round tests their theoretical knowledge, while the second requires them to complete practical assignments to showcase their professional skills.
Organized to foster scientific curiosity, professional mastery, and peer networking, the Olympiad will conclude tomorrow with an official award ceremony honoring the top performers.
