QS ASIA RANKING 2025: AUEZOV UNIVERSITY AMONG THE TOP 150 ASIAN UNIVERSITIES

The international ranking agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds is the compiler of several rankings:
- ranking of the best universities in the world – QS World University Rankings;
- subject rankings of the best universities in the world – QS World University Rankings by Subject;
- ranking of the best universities in the world in achieving sustainable development goals – QS Sustainability Rankings;
- regional rankings of the best universities QS University Rankings by Region (Europe, Latin America, Asia, Arab region);
- ranking of the best student cities in the world – QS Best Student Cities;
- ranking of the best MBA programs and master's programs – QS MBA and Masters Rankings;
- QS Stars program.
On November 6, 2024, Quacquarelli Symonds ranking agency published the QS Asia Ranking 2025. Auezov University took 138th place among 985 universities in Asia. In comparison with the last year, the university increased on 6 positions.
This year, the ranking of the best universities in Asia includes 35 universities from Kazakhstan, which is an absolute record for higher education in the country throughout its history. 22 universities improved their positions, 3 universities retained them, and 1 university returned to the ranking after a year's break.
Three leading universities in the country are in the top hundred of the ranking, which, along with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, now includes Satbayev University, which is on the 89th line.
When compiling the QS Asia University Rankings, experts evaluate Asian universities based on 11 criteria: reputation among academic experts and employers, citation of scientific publications, number of faculty and staff with an academic degree, international research network, publication activity of scientists, proportion of international students and faculty, student to faculty ratio, and academic mobility of students.
Entering the top 150 best higher education institutions in Asia is a significant achievement for our university.
On the whole, the number of universities from Kazakhstan in the flagship ranking of the best universities in the world - QS World University Rankings has more than doubled over the past four years, and has increased by one and a half times over the past three years: from 14 to 21 universities. M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University ranks 621 in this ranking and 4th in the country. In total, 5 663 universities from 106 countries took part in the ranking, of which 1503 were ranked.
In subject rankings, the number of Kazakhstani universities has quadrupled over four years (from 2 universities to 8 universities). In 2024, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University entered the subject ranking of the best universities in the world QS by Subject in the field of modern languages "Modern Languages" for the first time and took 301-340 position.
A special place is occupied by the ranking of the best universities in the world in the field of achieving sustainable development goals - QS Sustainability Rankings, in the latest issue of which 12 universities from Kazakhstan debuted at once, showing the most convincing results on the "Management Model" indicator. In this ranking, Auezov University took 981-1000 place out of 1403 universities in the world. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the university, as last year, is in 4th place out of 12 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the regional ranking QS Sustainability 2024 Asia, the university takes 293rd place out of 478 universities in the region.
The number of Kazakhstani universities - participants in the QS Stars program has increased to 23 over the past three years. This program provides new opportunities for the country's leading universities to attract talented students and teachers from foreign countries, thanks to the results of an independent audit that allows identifying the specific strengths of each university: from reputation and scientific productivity to inclusiveness and contribution to sustainable development. According to the ranking results, Auezov University was awarded a high rating of 4 stars. According to the results of the QS Stars audit, the university was awarded the highest rating - five stars for the following indicators: "Teaching", "Employability", "Online Learning" and "Inclusiveness".
Kazakhstan is also represented in the ranking of the best student cities in the world - QS Best Student Cities Rankings, which already includes two cities of the country: Astana and Almaty.
In the last two of the above rankings - QS Global MBA Rankings and QS Best Student Cities Rankings - only Kazakhstan is represented from the Central Asian countries.
The university's achievements in global and regional rankings are a reflection of the coordinated and comprehensive work of the university staff and its students.
