Students' Study Visit to the Archives
On 22 September 2026, third- and first-year students of the Department of General History and Museum Studies, Faculty of History and Pedagogy, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University, led by Senior Lecturer A. S. Turgumbayeva, made a study visit to the State Archive of Socio-Political History of Turkistan Region and the State Archive of Turkistan Region.
The students attentively viewed the exhibitions prepared by the archive staff. The staff introduced the documents in each display and gave particular attention to thematic document collections identified through archival research.
At the State Archive of Turkistan Region, the students entered the periodicals storage room and examined the newspaper holdings first-hand, while at the Archive of Socio-Political History they learned about the layout of the storage facility, the arrangement of documents and their contents.
The event was very well organised. The students showed great interest, asked the archivists questions, saw the stored documents with their own eyes, and learned about the procedure for transferring documents of veteran relatives to the archive for state preservation.
