On April 30, 2025, a demonstration practical lesson in “Research methodology and academic writing” subject on the topic “Metaphors and idioms” was conducted at 17:15 in the room №332(7). The demonstration lesson was conducted for master students of the educational program 7M02330 - Digital linguistics and intercultural communication (group MF-24-1na) and students of the educational program 6B02320 - Translation Studies (group Phi-22-7r) by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor of the department “Modern languages and translation studies” Alexey Sergeyevich Shvaikovskiy. The lesson was conducted in English in the form of a lesson-conversation with a focus on the development of all types of speech activity: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The following methods and techniques were used: “warm-up”, “hook”, “odd one out”, “mind-mapping”, “brainstorming”, etc. ICT technologies were also applied within the framework of the “Flipped classroom model” (before the lesson the students watched the necessary video material on the basis of “TED Talk”, during the lesson they answered comprehension questions, performed various translation tasks, and participated in discussion). The use of this form of work in combination with the Communicative approach and modern technologies allowed the students to more easily and effectively acquire the necessary knowledge, overcome difficulties, achieve goals and solve the learning tasks.
