History of the department

DEPARTMENT "BIOLOGY AND GEOGRAPHY"

The department was established in the Shymkent Pedagogical Institute of Physical Culture as part of the Faculty of Biology in 1991.

In 1996, in connection with the reorganization of the Shymkent Pedagogical Institute of Physical Culture to the South Kazakhstan Humanities University, Department became the part of the biological faculty and was renamed the Department of Biology and Geography.

Since March 1998, in accordance with the decision of the Government of the Republic of South, two main universities: the Technical University and the South Kazakhstan Humanities University were merged, therefor Department was renamed as "Theory and Methods of Teaching Biology" department. In August 2017, the Department of Biology became a member of the Natural Science Pedagogical Higher School.

The first head of the department was the candidate of biological sciences, Docent M. Sultanov. For several years the department headed: 1994-1996 - Professor A. Akhmetnyazo:, 1997-1998-Candidate of Biological Sciences, Docent Ismailov A.; 1998-2011- Candidate of Biological Sciences, Docent Issayev Ye.B.; 2011-2012- Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Turabaeva GK; 2012-2016-Candidate of Biological Sciences, Docent Kylishbaeva GB. Since 2017 - Candidate of Biological Sciences, Docent Issayev Ye.B.

Currently, the department trains in two specialties 6V05110-Biology, 6V05220-Scientific Geography and 6V01550-Biology, 6V01505 – Biology (IP) 6V01560-Pedagogical, 6V01560-Pedagogical (IP) Geography in daytime, evening and distance learning. I have a master's degree in the specialty 7M05110-Biology, 7M01550 – Biology and Natural Science, 7M05220-Scientific Geography and 7M01560-Pedagogical Geography. Foreign students from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan study in these specialties.The teaching staff is engaged in the training of specialists, including 1 professor, 2 doctors of science, 2 ph doctors of science, 17 candidates of science, associate professors and 12 masters.Students, undergraduates, employees of the department undergo practice and internships in the Sairam-Ugam State National Natural Park, the Syrdarya-Turkestan State Regional Natural Park, the Research Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the Arboretum and Zoo of Shymkent, KazNU named after. al-Farabi, KazNPU named after Abay, at the Russian Agricultural Academy (RSHA) named after. Duration of training - 4 years

Professional activity:

Field of professional activity - biological sciences (botany, zoology, human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, biophysics, microbiology, etc.) and biodiversity conservation technologies.

The objects of professional activity are: research institutes, secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, young naturalists' stations, colleges, national parks, reserves and other areas requiring higher professional education, environmental organizations, biotechnologies, public administration institutions and administrations.

Qualification: Bachelor of Biology, duration of study 4 yearsProfessional activity:– teacher of geography in educational (pedagogical) institutions of various profiles (school, lyceum, gymnasium, college).Where graduates can work:– teacher of geography in educational institutions;–employees of environmental and environmental organizations;-workers of reserves and the national park;-employees of hydrometeorological station and travel company. Prepares masters in the specialty 7M05110-Biology, 7M05220-Scientific Geography and 7M01560-Pedagogical Geography. Currently, in order to gradually implement the cultural project “Trinity of Languages”, in the Message of the Head of State to the people of Kazakhstan “new Kazakhstan in the new world”, since 2016, training has been conducted in three languages - state, Russian and English.English groups have been opened at the Department of Biology and Geography since 2017 and classes are taught in English. Since 2012, a greenhouse and an experimental field have been opened for students of the department.
