Dean of the Agrarian Faculty, Associate Professor Gulnara Tastanbekova, Head of the Department of Crop Production and Animal Husbandry, Candidate of Biological Sciences, docent Asset Zhylkibaev and Senior Lecturer of the Department, docent Zhenisbek Abdraimov took part in a historical event in the Tyulkubas district - the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve. The celebration took place within the framework of the national environmental initiative "Taza Qazaqstan" and was marked by a direct teleconference with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
On 25th of April, 2026, the territory of the oldest reserve in Central Asia became the center of the country's environmental responsibility. During the event, a large-scale tree planting campaign was organized, in which representatives of our faculty took an active part.
The key point was the teleconference with the President. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, addressing the participants from Astana, stressed that the action "Taza Qazaqstan" is not a one-time clean–up day, but a long-term path to the formation of a new ecological culture and respect for the native land. The regional leadership and eco-volunteers contacted the President from the Turkestan region, noting the importance of preserving the biodiversity of Aksu-Zhabagly.
For the Agrarian Faculty, participation in the anniversary of the reserve is of particular importance. As the dean of the faculty noted, Aksu-Zhabagly is a unique natural laboratory for our students and scientists. As part of the action, faculty teaching staff contributed to the greening of the region by planting seedlings in the foothills of the reserve.
While the faculty represented the faculty at anniversary events in the Tulkubas region, the student community also contributed to the purity of their native land. On the same day, more than 100 students of the Agrarian Faculty went to a large-scale city clean – up day in Shymkent.
Young activists supported the appeal of the Head of State within the framework of the "Taza Qazaqstan" campaign, putting in order the fixed territories of the city. The combination of the research work of teachers in the reserve and the labor landing of students in the city demonstrated the cohesion of the Agrarian Faculty in environmental issues. The faculty team intends to continue to actively promote the implementation of the Taza Qazaqstan program, introducing the principles of sustainable development into the educational process.
