"Save water - save the future": a nationwide eco-hour was held for students of the Agrarian Faculty with the participation of a representative of the Ministry

April 30, 2026 in the assembly hall of the main building of the SKU named after M. Auezov, within the framework of the large-scale project "Save water - save the future," a nationwide eco-hour was held. The main guest and speaker of the event was the director of the Strategic Development Department of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Qurman Galym Polatuly.
The purpose of the eco-hour was to form a culture of responsible water consumption among future farmers. In his speech, Galym Polatuly elaborated on the strategic tasks of the department and the shortage of water resources facing the region.
- Global challenges: The Speaker gave up-to-date data on the state of Kazakhstan's water bodies and the need to switch to innovative water-saving technologies in agriculture.
- State policy: The main directions of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the modernization of irrigation systems and the introduction of digital water accounting were explained.
- The role of young people: Galym Polatuly emphasized that students of the Agrarian Faculty are future specialists who will have to implement these changes in practice.
The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue. Students actively asked questions about the construction of new reservoirs, subsidizing drip irrigation and internship opportunities in the structures of the Ministry.
The eco-hour was an important step in the environmental education of young people. As the organizers noted, a careful attitude to water today is a guarantee of food and environmental safety of Kazakhstan in the future.
