A curatorial hour entitled “Food Security”

The efficient use of food resources and the reduction of food waste are among the most pressing challenges facing modern society. As part of educational and awareness-raising activities in this area, a curatorial hour entitled “Food Security” was organized by Bayan Omirzakovna Tastanbekova, a lecturer of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies. The event was attended by students of group ST-24-9k and faculty members of the department.The main objective of the event was to foster students’ responsible attitude toward food, promote healthy eating habits, and increase awareness of food security issues.During the meeting, participants discussed the fact that a significant portion of food produced worldwide remains unused and ultimately becomes waste. Particular attention was given to the negative impact of food waste on the environment, natural resources, and ecological sustainability. The students emphasized that access to high-quality and nutritious food plays a crucial role in maintaining good health and supporting intellectual development. They also shared several proposals aimed at addressing this issue.
The initiatives proposed included:
• promoting a culture of responsible food consumption in both the university cafeteria and everyday life;
• organizing food bank campaigns and charitable food drives to support low-income families and individuals in need;
• implementing environmental projects, such as establishing small gardens and greenhouses on the university campus.
Throughout the curatorial hour, it was highlighted that careful use of food resources and the development of economical consumption habits can make a meaningful contribution to society.Addressing the participants, lecturer B.O. Tastanbekova stated: “Conscious food consumption begins with the personal responsibility of each individual. By promoting the principles of healthy and sustainable nutrition within the educational environment, we help raise a generation of young people who care about their health, the environment, and the future of society.”At the conclusion of the event, the participants prepared a joint appeal calling for the reduction of food waste and agreed to launch an informational challenge within the university to promote a culture of responsible and sustainable food consumption.
