HISTORY AND LESSONS FROM THE PAST
On October 15, a republican scientific and practical conference entitled “25 Years of Heritage: History and Lessons from the Past” was held in Shymkent to mark the 25th anniversary of the Museum of Victims of Political Repression, which is part of the Shymkent City Museum Association.
The scientific event brought together historians, museum studies specialists, museum staff from various regions of the country, and faculty members of higher education institutions.
During the plenary session, Professor and Doctor of Historical Sciences S. Alibek, representing the Department of History of Kazakhstan at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University, delivered a presentation on statesman Sultanbek Sadykbekov. The conference was also attended by G. Tileukulov, Associate Professor and Candidate of Historical Sciences, and A. Kabyl, Senior Lecturer of the department.
During this meaningful gathering, participants shared valuable information about individuals who lived and carried out public and political activities during challenging periods in the history of the nation and who were subjected to political repression. They also discussed the results and key areas of museum activities, as well as current issues in historical research.
The conference served as an important platform for exchanging academic experience, discussing relevant historical research, and preserving the nation's historical memory.
