On the 4^th of February, 2026 at the Agrarian Faculty of SKU named after M. Auezov, an information and practical meeting of students and faculty with regional representatives of the international concern «BASF» Serik Bektimbaev (regions: Almaty, East Kazakhstan and Zhambyl to the village of Merke) and Yerzhan Berdenov (regions: Turkestan, Kyzylorda and Zhambyl regions from the village of Merke).

BASF is a recognized global expert in the production of plant protection products, seeds and digital solutions for agriculture. The visit of representatives of this level to our university emphasizes the high status of the faculty as a forge of personnel for the modern agro-industrial complex.

Serik Bektimbaev and Yerzhan Berdenov presented modern IT platforms for monitoring the state of fields and optimizing farm costs. Students learned about the latest developments in fungicides and herbicides that minimize environmental impact while maximizing effectiveness.

Regional managers shared information about internship programs at BASF and the requirements that the company imposes on young professionals.

During the question-and-answer session, students of the Agronomy and Plant Protection specialties received advice on specific pest control cases in southern Kazakhstan. The teaching staff of the Department of Crop Production and Animal Husbandry discussed with the guests the prospects for conducting joint field experiments on the basis of the Kainar Bulak ESIC.
