On October 9, 2026, PhD, Associate Professor G. E. Sakhmetova of the Department of “Power Engineering and Non-Traditional Power Systems” conducted an open practical lesson in the course “Transient Processes in Electric Power Systems” on the topic “Calculation of Short-Circuit Currents in the Per-Unit System.”During the practical lesson, students studied the algorithm for calculating short-circuit currents using the per-unit system, including the determination of base quantities and the calculation of per-unit impedances of electric power system components. By constructing equivalent circuits and applying critical thinking methods, students consolidated their theoretical knowledge, performed practical calculations, and assessed the influence of equipment parameters on short-circuit current values. They also developed their ability to justify engineering decisions aimed at ensuring the reliability and electrical safety of electric power systems.
