The Department of Life Safety and Environmental Protection at the Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Transport of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University was organized in 1991.
A great contribution to the formation and development of the department was made by former heads of the department: Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Suleimenov A.T.; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sataev M.I.; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Zhantasov K.T.; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Naukenova A.S., Ph.D, Associate Professor Shapalov Sh.K.
Since October 2023, the department has been headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Ramatullaeva Lazzat Imamadinovna.
Over the past 5 years, the educational programs of the department in the framework of accreditation, the Atameken rating for quality assurance in education and in the rating of educational programs of universities of Kazakhstan occupy leading positions. The department currently employs five "Best university teachers" (M. I. Sataev, K. T. Zhantasov, A. S. Naukenova, A. S. Kolesnikov, Sh. K. Shapalov) and the first winner of the "BEST RESEARCHER" award at the university (A.S. Kolesnikov).
At the moment, the department provides training under the educational program "Environmental protection and life safety" at the three-stage level: bachelor's, master's, doctoral studies. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, doctoral studies in this educational program are available only at this department. Where the dissertation council for the defense of doctoral dissertations functions. Since 2015, 12 doctoral students have received a doctoratedegree.

- Carrying out research on the grant project AR 15473446 "Development of biotechnology of feed protein from plant raw materials" Competition for grant financing of research of young scientists under the Zhas Galym project for 2022-2024. - Carrying out research on the grant project AP19175875 "Obtaining multi-purpose thermal insulation products based on natural raw materials and man-made waste" Competition for grant financing of young scientists under the Zhas Galim project for 2023-2025. WINNERS OF THE REPUBLICAN OLYMPIAD IN "LIFE SAFETY" DISCIPLINE AWARDED

From April 29 to April 30 at the Kazakh National University named after Al Farabi hosted the XVI Republican student subject Olympiad on the discipline "Fundamentals of life safety" within the framework of the educational program 6B11210 - "Life safety and environmental protection". As a result of competitive intellectual battles, which took place in two stages, in which teams from various higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part, as well as students of the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University from the Department of "Life Safety and Environmental Protection" Imamadin Aruai Kayratgalikyzy (CM 20-9ka), Askar Nurzhamal took part Rashitkyzy (CM 20-9k2). Where, according to the results of two rounds, Imamadin Aruai Kayratgalikyzy (Head: PhD, professor Shapalov Sh.K.) became the winner of the Olympiad and the holder of the diploma of the first degree.

South Kazakhstan research university named after M. The winners of the competition «35 nominal scholarships», organized by the university management, were students of our department «Life Safety and environmental protection» group SM-20-9k1 of the department Utegen Margarita Nematulovna-scholarship named after. From April 20 to April 21, 2023, at Taraz University, in the discipline "Fire safety" among students of higher educational institutions OP 6B11210 – "Environmental protection and life safety", a student of the SM-20-9k2 group Ongar Bakdaulet took 1st place at the XV Republican Subject Olympiad.
The Department of «Life safety and Environmental Protection», responsible for Education, Senior Mentor, PhD Makulbekova Gulnaz Orazbekovna, organized by the corporate fund «El Umiti», conducted a training «Personal Development Management: goal formulation, planning, time management», aimed at self-improvement, leadership and social activity development.

From April 1 to April 30, doctoral students from group DSM-24-5a are undertaking an international scientific internship at Universiti Putra Malaysia. During this visit, they are discussing their dissertation research within the Agricultural Engineering research laboratory, under the supervision of Khairul Faezah Md. Yunos, at the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering.
